Field Trip to Green Thumb Nursery

On October 27th, 2025, eight members of the Temple Terrace Garden Club came together for a Pop-Up field trip to Green Thumb Nursery on Sheldon Road in Tampa.

The club was invited to attend an introduction to Bonsai by Javier Cortes, Bonsai Artist. Javier  goes by his childhood name, Vago. Vago's Bonsai area is a real tribute to his passion for bonsai and the specialized science involved in creating bonsai. He has many bonsais on display, also an area with tools of his trade, special pots for sale, fertilizers, books, and so much more.

He also conducts classes for those interested in bonsai. In addition he sells his creations to bonsai lovers in the US and all over the world.

We so enjoyed his presentation and his dedication to the art of creating bonsai.

Green Thumb nursery is five acres of plants, trees, shrubs and flowers and products for sale. They also have a landscaping department. Their knowledgeable staff has the ability to diagnose pest and disease problems in your turf or garden plants.

Green Thumb Nursery is a family owned business since 1953.

There is a Zen garden area with beautiful fountains, rocks, fish, etc for you to create a relaxing, calming area at your home or business..

Please visit Green Thumb nursery at 6913 Sheldon Rd. Tampa.

After visiting the nursery we enjoyed a lovely lunch at Olivos on Waters Ave.
