Poinsettia Day!

Temple Terrace Garden Club wrapped up another successful year of poinsettia sales, which has been a primary fundraiser since 1972.  The process kicks-off in mid-September at our general meeting when order forms are distributed and then our members are off and running.  For the next six weeks, members are busy selling to friends, co-workers, neighbors, churches, businesses, etc. Many Temple Terrace residents have long been supporters of this annual event and look forward to getting their garden club poinsettias as proven this year with the sale of 1,762 plants!

In early December, the poinsettias are delivered to Woodmont clubhouse, where TTGC meets, by our long-standing vendor (who also runs a local Christmas tree lot). On delivery day, we have around 20 members devoting their time from 7am-1pm to count and sort the poinsettias for pick-up or delivery.  An additional 20 members volunteer to deliver poinsettias to local residents. The thrill of seeing the big smiles when their beautiful poinsettias arrive never gets old!  Distribution day takes place, rain or shine, and this year the team was truly tested with a brief, but hard, rain shower. Of course, even the rain didn't dampen the spirits of our dedicated volunteers and the process went off without a hitch!
