Our first “Yard of the Month” for this year for the month of September is located at 6110 Whiteway Drive. To say these homeowners are ecstatic is an understatement.

Our May meeting, which is typically a luncheon, was lovely this year. It was held at the Temple Terrace Country Club; each table was decorated with an Italian flag and a grouping of small vases with fresh flowers.

We had fun at the library this week at  two different garden week events. On Wednesday, May 1, garden club members and Susan Defant, children’s librarian, read books to the art class children and their parent.

TTGC and the City of Temple Terrace joined together on Saturday, April 20th for Riverfest, a gathering in honor of Earth Day. Riverfest was held at Scout Park next to the Hillsborough River. Many city residents were very excited and appreciative of being able to take a free tree home to plant.

Spring Market is our Club’s annual event at Woodmont Park, when we partner with the city of Temple Terrace to feature a plant sale, a bake sale, local vendors, live music, and a chalk contest.

Congratulations to Chris and Jackie Allen, 707 Vanderbaker Road, on their beautiful yard which should be alive with color in a couple of weeks.

114 posters were submitted from local children in grades from first to fifth grade from the three Temple Terrace Elementary schools. A $100 grant was awarded to the art department of each school to help cover supplies. First place poster winners receive a $10 gift certificate and move on to additional competition at the state level. Each winner receives a ribbon noting their placement and all children receive a certificate of participation.
